wintry

I realize that I posted an anti-ode (is that a term?) to summer over summer break, but that I have yet to do the same about Winter. I suppose I don't complain about winter because I feel it would be pointless to start. When I wrote about summer, I did so to remind myself that there were bad things about my favorite season so that I would not romanticize it when I came to this point. This point, at the beginning of a new year, when there are icicles in the bushes and patches of black ice on the roads. When all the previously well-housed and well-loved evergreens and firs lay forgotten, brown and barren on the curb sides. The point where I ask myself if I really need to shower, because I'd rather not get naked and wet. My skin is dry and itchy. I need to be within an arm's reach of chapstick at all times. I am bored and too cold to emerge from my bedding or my comfy space on the couch, so I don't. It becomes counter-intuitive to drink an ice cold Coke.

I could go on for days. My point is: Christmas is over, so hurry up and let it be Spring already.

EDIT: according to tomscott.com and his Star Wars Weather Forecaster "It's like HOTH out there!"

no.1

Ah, it's Wednesday again.

It is also the end of fall break. A break too short to do anything but stay at school while the freshmen go home and try to find something entertaining to do. I believe it was Friday afternoon that I realized I had no concrete plans for the next four days but the hope of sleeping until noon every morning. Except Sunday, because there was no student mass, which meant I went to the cathedral (if you ever visit Charleston, I highly recommend attending the 11:15 mass with the choir).
Today, Charleston has decided to remind me it is autumn. It is below 70, grey, and perpetually rainy. And my computer mocks me by playing the Beach Boys. Nice. However, since this weather is rather infrequent, it is nice to sit and do the USA Today crossword and drink Einstein's coffee. It is also good for wearing sweatpants and sitting inside listening to the Once soundtrack.

I woke up early to see my advisor before Western Civ this morning, because like it or not registration for spring starts mon/tues. And as freaked out as I was last night, trying to land on some helpful and interesting classes, I have picked some good ones and I am actually fairly excited for next semester.

Right. So. Wednesday hottie: my number one, Mr. Hugh Jackman.

Yesterday I figured out you can stream Kate and Leopold on Netflix. However, as much as I love him, I opted to read Western Civ at waterfront park because it was nice outside. I do not regret this decision at all, because as my friend Justin put it "it's Noah's ark outside."
Then again, he makes the rain look pretty good.

that is all. I have no words. only sighs of contentment.

hump day

I had planned on focusing on some more hotties this wednesday, but today my focus is else where. Probably because since coming back, I've spent a bit too long surfing the internet and finding really random stuff.

today, picture unrelated.

weird pictures with captions that make them even weirder.

caption: that kid is going down!

purpose of this site: to make the viewer say or think WTF?

also, I discovered a web-exclusive show on USA called CTRL featuring Tony Hale (aka Buster from Arrested Development). Definitely not as funny, but the second webisode is fairly amusing.

Last (full) night in my bed. Tomorrow, I'll be waking up early and driving back to school. Today, I should ahve been able to sleep in a bit, eat some breakfast, pack some more...but no. This morning, the roofers came. When they called yesterday to say they were coming first thing in the morning, I had no way of knowing they meant 6:30. That's just crazy talk. But they came. And they hammered. And they are still hammering. And scraping. Hmm. Now that I'm listening it seems they finally left my corner of the house alone for a few minutes. If only they ahd done that at 7. Now I am awake for the day, after laying in bed trying unsuccessfully to fall back asleep, to let the repetitive noises (racket) lull me back to a dream I can't remember.

Now after watching an hour or so of television, I must start my day. In that hour, btw, I watched the music video for Taylor Swift's "You Belong With Me." OK, I'm really not a big TS fan, but I like this video.
